Seymour James, Jr. Named to the New York State Bar Association's Coronavirus Recovery Task Force

Attorney Seymour James, Jr. has been named to the New York State Bar Association's Coronavirus Recovery Task Force, composed of several law school deans, partners at respected firms, and leaders of legal aid organizations. The COVID-19 Recovery Task Force is working with the New York legal community and pro bono network of lawyers to analyze how to move forward after this pandemic and prepare for the "pent up demand" for legal services.

“I think you’re gonna see institutional legal service providers overwhelmed, legal aid societies overwhelmed, with requests for legal services to handle claims by creditors and potential eviction proceedings and you name it,” NYSBA President Henry M. Greenberg said. “Never before has there been a greater need for pro bono legal services than there will be at that moment.” The lawyers' primary focus will be helping people apply for unemployment benefits, in addition to preparing to handle evictions, domestic violence, and a wide variety of other matters.
