A graduate of Brown University, Aida F. Leisenring spent three years as an editor at Elle Magazine, representing the magazine at industry events worldwide and writing monthly features. Ms. Leisenring then graduated with honors from the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law in 2006, where she was recognized for excellence in service to the law school for her clinical work in criminal defense.
Ms. Leisenring began her legal career representing indigent defendants as a staff attorney with the New York City Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, NY. There she successfully represented thousands of clients charged with crimes in both the Criminal Courts of New York City and the New York State Supreme Court. In the last five years, she has co-chaired high profile felony trials resulting in acquittals in both state and federal courts.
Ms. Leisenring has appeared on Dateline, 20/20, and 48 Hours, and has been selected as a New York Metro Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2014-2016. Ms. Leisenring is fluent in Spanish and is also a published author. She has developed and executive produced an ABC docuseries “The Last Defense” with Academy Award winning Actress Viola Davis, which explores flaws in the criminal justice system by focusing on potentially wrongfully convicted defendants on Death Row. “The Last Defense” aired on the ABC network of broadcast stations beginning June 12, 2018 at 10 pm.
