Webinar: Parole Supervision in New York: Policy Problems and Actionable Solutions

New York State’s massive parole system is driving mass incarceration — and all the inequities that come with it. We know there is a better way: states around the country have reduced the footprint and punitiveness of their community supervision systems.

Parole Supervision in New York: Policy Problems and Actionable Solutionswill elevate the discussion of parole supervision and the significant legislative and administrative proposals about reforming parole practices in New York State being considered — including the Less Is More Act. Speakers will lay out the problem of technical parole violations in New York, and offer concrete policy solutions based on research, lived experience, and examples from other jurisdictions for how to fix New York’s parole system.

This event is co-sponsored by Columbia University Justice Lab, the Independent Commission on NYC Criminal Justice and Incarceration Reform, the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), and the NYSBA Task Force on the Parole System.
