Our partner and former president of the New York State Bar Association, and former Attorney-in-Chief for The Legal Aid Society in New York City, Seymour W James, Jr., leads the Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government. The group recently held its third annual public hearing, this one in New York City.

From the article:

"The group is weighing more than 40 proposals to strengthen state ethics and lobbying laws for its 2026 legislative agenda. ... COELIG chair Seymour James Jr. said the ideas for potential legislation in the next several years will hold government officials, and the people who influence them, to higher ethical standards.

'We are committed to restoring the public's trust in state government,' James Jr. said at the start of Thursday's hearing. 'Raising constructive feedback and new ideas from the public is part of the process to restore that trust.'"
